Description: After discovering the beneficial properties of some of the
natural springs of the area, an enterprising human has
convinced a primitive tribe of ogresses to transform their
rustic encampment into a medicinal spa of sorts.
Before Oo'glog can open for business, though, the area must
be prepared, a pest problem needs to be sorted and the
ogres really ought to be reminded that bashing people with
big clubs isn't a traditional health treatment.
Items Needed During Quest: - 4 Iron Spears
- Hunt two raw chompy birds
- 8 Achey Tree logs (get near chompy birds)
- Eucalyptus logs (get west of Oo'glog, the new ogre village).
You need 10 for one part, and a load full for another, so get
chopping.
- At least 8 (though a few more would be better maybe)
stripey feathers from hunting wagtail birds just north of the
west exit of Oo'glog
- 8 larupia furs (not the tatty ones) that you get from hunting
larupias (get by hunting Larupia with logs, knife, and teasing
stick)
- 4 wolf bones (go kill some wolves)
Starting Location: Start by talking to Chief Tess on the western side of Oo'glog.
Quest Instructions:
Step 1:
Hide
Clue:
Start by talking to Chief Tess on the western side of
Oo'glog. Agree to help
her by talking to the lady in the bank, then go talk to Balnea
in the bank. Just
agree to help (like you always do...) She's definitely got
boardroom-bingo
syndrome. Buzzwords galore from the corporate world.
Director's Diarhea. Yup.
Agree to keep her secrets, try not to think of her comparisons
of hunting and
business practices as making her completely psycho... (It's
okay, you can fail
at that, I did)
Ask her what's in it for you? Ask her what the pools do. She
gets annoyed and
wants your decision, so tell her you'll do it: "Well, why not?
I've nothing
better to do."
(Apparently you don't, or you wouldn't be doing this quest!)
Ba dum bump. Thank
you, thank you, try the veal.
You now have access to the bank! Good.
Target 1: Establish catering facilities. Go talk to Chargurr,
and set her up
with the basics of a good spit-fire. Chargurr is immediately
north north-east of
the bank, just a few steps. She wants you to collect 8 achey
tree logs, 10
eucalyptus logs. Well what are you waiting for? Go to the
bank, get your
woodcutting axe, arm up and weapon up too, and get on it!
Head west out of the
village... There's a Eucalyptus tree there. Cut yourself 10
logs. If you see
stinkbloom out there, pick some of that too, and don't forget
to pick up any big
bones people are discarding. Head back to the bank to unload
if you need to.
Take the logs you needed to get back to talk to Chargurr, she
tells you to put
them on the pit then talk to her. She needs spears. Go get
her 4 spears. Fight
goblins, head to barbarian village with 4 iron bars and 4 oak
logs and a hammer,
do what you need to do! Once done, head back and talk to
her and agree to give
her the spears.
Talk to her again: She wants two chompy birds. If you're like
me, you totally
don't have this stuff anymore, so get a woodcutting axe, a
knife, and about
1,000 feathers out of your bank and head to the ogre area to
the north when you
were doing the chompy bird quest, 1000 gp, and go out the
agility exit or the
gate, and head northeast to the quest start point east of
Feldip Hills where
Raanz is. Pay him for an ogre composite bow, then head to
the cave entrance,
open the chest and get the ogre bellows. Then head west to
the area where the
achey trees are and start killing wolves for wolf bones.
Use your bellows on the swamp gas, and then on the toads.
You can only get
three... Head to the achey trees with a knife and your
woodcutting axe, chop a
bunch, and fletch them into some shafts. Kill some wolves for
some bones. I
killed 30 giving me about 141 ogre arrows, and consuming a
little under 600
feathers. Kill a few extra, you need them later. Drop your
toads in the chompy
area, and kill, pluck, and take the bodies of two chompies
then head back and
talk to Chargurr again. Put the chompies on the spears and
talk to her again.
Get your tinderbox out of the bank and light the fire. Talk to
Chargurr again,
she tells you to go talk to Balnea in the bank.
Now you need to talk to Snurgh in the Hotel (Two buildings
east of the bank).
You need to collect 8 stripey feathers from a tropical wagtail
bird. Get a bird
snare, and head out the west gate and then head north.
Those on lunar spells can
call for a hunting kit: 2 astrals and 2 earths. Lay the bird
snare and catch two
of the birds, that should give you enough feathers. Take them
back to Snurgh.
Then go back and talk to Balnea in the bank again.
After more corporate gobbldygook, you find out you need to
go to the Salon (one
building east of the bank) and talk to Kringk. You need to get
some wolf bones
and lup-lup furs (larupia fur). 4 wolf bones and 8 furs should
do it. Go get
some logs out of the bank (a lot), a knife, and a teasing stick
(comes in your
hunter pack if you have the astral spell for it.) Head to the
hunter spot north
of oo'glog, it's marked on the world map. Set two traps, tease
the larupia, walk
to one side of one of the traps, then jump it. If the Larupia
follows you over
instead of falling in and dying, go to the OTHER trap and
repeat the jump. (Larupias
won't jump the same pit twice in a row, hence having two pits
you can alternate
back and forth between). Once you've got the furs, go kill
wolves and get 4 wolf
bones, adn then head back to Oo'glog, and back to the salon.
Talk to Kringk
again and give her the stuff. Back to Balnea in the bank
again...
We learn (with some interpretation difficulty) that we need
to talk to someone
named Seegud, just northeast of the bank. Each pool in the
area is infested by a
different type of insect. You need to get rid of them by using
different
materials. You'll start a fire by each pit, and burn different
plant matter to
get a smell that drives that type of insect away. Seegud has
left piles of
stones by each fire pit to remind her what to burn. Colors and
shapes are the
clue.
NOTE: THE ONLY CONSISTENT THING HERE SEEMS TO BE:
Long Brown Rock = Eucalyptus
Log. Everyone else gets different mappings for the other five,
so WRITE THEM
DOWN.
Mine were:
Long brown rock: Eucalyptus log to fire. (Every fire needs
eucalyptus log)
Green lump shaped rock: fever grass.
Red round rock: Primweed
Yellow egg shaped rock: Tansymum
Orange squarish rock: Stinkbloom
Tall purple rock: Lavender
Okay, go gather everything you'll need:
Head out the west gate, then north and east not straying too
far from the
village. Oh yeah, arm up so the ogresses don't turn you into
mincemeat.
On my first trip, I tried to fill up with primweed. I killed a
couple of
ogresses as well, and got 2 big bones and a crimson charm,
and a gold charm.
When I was full, I headed back to the bank.
Second trip: Go back out and find the fever grass, and go
stock up on that. My
theory is I may need more of this stuff, so I might as well
stock up on it now
and stick it in the bank for burning later.
Third fourth and fifth: Tansymum, stinkbloom, and lavender
respectively.
Sixth trip: Chop eucalyptus logs with an axe, get a load.
There, we should have enough to do this.
Start with the Thermal bath northeast of Seegud's hut. Look
at the rocks, check
your mappings, and figure out what you need to put in the
pit. Put in the logs,
and the herbs, and light it with a tinderbox.
Something isn't right though, and one of the punk ogre kids
laughs at you. Go
back and talk to Seegud. I suspect the kids have mixed up the
rocks.
So now we have to figure out WHICH rocks represent which
herbs, because your
mapping is all wrong. Kids. *sighs*
Okay, so you tried what you thought was the correct herb.
Take the OTHER four
with you along with four eucalyptus logs back to the thermal
pit and your
tinderbox. You'll set one herb at a time there, with a log and
light it and see
if it works. If it does, you now have a match for that color of
stone.
Using that, find another pool with that exact same color of
rock PLUS another.
Bring 4 of the herb that matched before, 4 eucalyptus logs,
and one each of the
four other herbs. Load in the herb you know, one of the ones
you don't, and a
log, and light it and see if it works. Once it does, record THIS
stone's
herbmatch, and keep going.
Are we having fun yet?
Thermal with yellow egg shaped stones:
Tansymum: Nope
Lavender: Nope
Stinkbloom: Nope
Primweed: Nope
Fever grass: Yup
(REMEMBER: YOURS WILL PROBABLY BE A DIFFERENT
MATCH!)
Talk to Grubb afterwards. He'll send you to the mud bath.
Same herb plus one
more.
Go back to the bank and get FOUR of the matching herb from
the last pool, plus
one each of the other herbs, and four eucalyptus logs.
It'll go like this:
Match + other{1} + e.logs + tinderbox = see if it works
Match + other{2} + e.logs + tinderbox = see if it works
Match + other{3} + e.logs + tinderbox = see if it works
Match + other{4} + e.logs + tinderbox = see if it works
At my mud pit, the stones are red sphere, and yellow egg
shaped.
Yellow egg shaped was fever grass for me (my match) so let's
go with the plan to
find ouit what the red spheres equate to in my world:
Tansymum: Yep. (Hey, got it on the first one. Cool.)
So now I know...
Yellow egg shaped = Fever Grass
Red Sphere = Tansymum.
Talking to I'rk and Grunther till you find out what the next pit
is. Salt-water
(by Chagurr's cooking pit).
Salt-water's rocks are:
Long brown (eucalyptus)
Red sphere (Tansymum for me, you learned yours at the mud
pit)
Green gumdrop:
Now, since you KNOW there are three unknowns, bring THREE
of your herbs that
match for the red sphere (tansymum for me), and one herb
each that you haven't
matched up, 3 eucalyptus logs, and your tinderbox.
Matching the green stone:
Primweed?: YES! (got it in one again)
So now I know...
Yellow egg shaped = Fever Grass
Red Sphere = Tansymum.
Green gumdrop = Primweed
Only two unknowns left! Talk to Snaarl...
Sulphur spring is next (by Chief tess' hut; west of where you
are)
Rocks: Purple Tall & Green Gumdrop
So: Green = Primweed, and Purple = either lavender or
stinkbloom.
Go to the bank and get two eucalyptus logs, two primweeds,
and one lavender and
one stinkbloom then come back.
Lavender? Nope
Stinkbloom? Yep!
So now I know...
Yellow egg shaped = Fever Grass
Red Sphere = Tansymum.
Green gumdrop = Primweed
Purple Tall = Stinkbloom.
By process of elimination, I also now know that:
Orange Squarish = Lavender.
Talk to Grr'bah, last one is the red pit west of the chief's hut
(west of our
current position). Go back to the bank, get one eucalyptus
log, tinderbox, and
one of each weed so we can just match 'em up when we get
there.
Rocks are: Long brown, red sphere, purple tall, and orange
squarish.
so: Eucalyptus logs, Tansymum, stinkbloom, and
Lavender.
Light 'em up! Good to go.
Talk to Seegud again in her hut. And then back to the bank
again to talk to
Balnea.
She wants you to hunt some animals.
Diseased kebbits, wimpy birds (I wonder if they'd be glad to
pay you tomorrow
for a hamburger today?), and platypodes. Go talk to chief
tess. You find out
about smouldering stuff...
Kebbits: Tansymum makes them bite. They like Fever Grass.
They'll follow you and
you can bait the trap with it.
Wimpy birds: Burn tansymum to attract them. Fever grass
scares them off.
Well great hunter, go get it done! Do the Kebbits first, bring
logs and a knife
to set deadfall traps, and fever grass and a tinderbox.
Northeast of the sulfur
pools you'll find some deadfall traps. Set one... Light your
fever grass and run
around trying to get them to follow you through the trap. It
might take a bit of
practice. You have to get all four of them! There's another
batch to the east
you also have to get.
Platypodes are just west of the sulphur spring. They all have
names beginning
with the letter 'P', and there are four of them. Set your box
traps here and
burn lavender. Once you have all four, go back and talk to the
Chief again and
get advice as to where to release them. Now head east to the
docks inside the
town and stand right by the reads and start releasing them. I
got three caskets
and an oyster.
Time for the Wimpy Birds! Go back to the bank and get a bird
snare and tansymum
and your tinderbox. Two building spaces west of the bank is
where you'll find
the birds. Go get all five of them!
Then go back and talk to the chief and announce you've done
the hunting of all
the animals. Back to the bank and talk to Balnea!
And you're done.
